5 Favsies

It's been a few since I linked up for 5 favorites and today is Wednesday and I just happened to have some favorites so here we are. Hi.

1.  Favorite thing Kirby said lately:

Did you noticed I did a little blog facelift? Won't we miss little Johnny's side butt? You'll live on forever, side butt. I had a hankering for a change so, I changed it. What do you think? Last night I asked what Kirby thought and he said "Oh, it's great. I mean, I'm not sure where the dad is. Maybe we can photoshop him in on the upper right like RIP, dad." \\RIP//

2. Favorite thing I did on Monday:

On Monday night we went to see Arcade Fire at the Santa Barbara Bowl and, if you're my Instagram friend you surely hate me now because the night was very full of alcohol induced party-girl selfies (see above). I should be ashamed but I'm not because it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. And I had SO MUCH FUN. I definitely became that flailing, annoying wife, dancing to every song as my stoic husband stood supportively by. I'm sure I smacked him in the face at least 7 times. They played a good amount of The Suburbs and Funeral which are my favorite records and the ended the night with Wake Up, which resulted just yelling, screaming, emotional fanfare from me. But it was magical and perfect. I'm still buzzin' a full 48 hrs later (not from dranks). Just take this in with me for a sec.

3. Favorite thing I'm doing this Sunday:

Speaking of bowls and music that I love, my brother's band is playing the Hollywood Bowl this Sunday!!! THE BOWL. With Iron and Wine and Glen Hansard, no less. I've been dreaming of this night for months and now it's only a handful of days away. I can't wait. I can't wait to see my brother on such an iconic stage, in the city we both grew up in. I can wait to dance and yell and scream and maybe revert back to excessive buzzed-lady selfies. I'll probably even cry. Maybe. Probably.

4. Favorite thing I won:

A few weeks ago, I followed Grace's post trail to this little website and did some pretend shopping for the wall above my couch. And everything I liked was in the hundreds of dollars I don't have range so I thought- "Hey! You should enter yourself into that drawing. You won't win but it couldn't hurt." AND
GUESS
WHAT
I WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
(I love that little say what?! face next to my name)

I can't wait to show you what I accomplish with that (basically) pennies, crap prize.

5. Favorite child thing I found on my computer.

Ok, I'm kidding. Of course there are no long-term favorite children around here but every once in a while, someone rises to the top of the hilarious category and right now it's Mary. My kids play on Photobooth a lot, taking weird pictures of themselves and then roaring in laughter, rinse, repeat. But Mary took it to another level the other day when I found this. And it's not the only one. There are many. There is one on "action cartwheels" and one on selling a toy and one on texting her if you'd like more shows. O M G.

(I'm having a hard time uploading this vid so for now watch it here... if you want. I mean, you should.)

6. Favorite bonus because I like bonuses.

After a few last minute happenings and a large nudge from Grace P., I decided to pull the trigger and go to Dallas. Booking the flight was my biggest hold-up and after a morning spent lurking the dredges of the internet for flights, aaaannnndd opening up a credit card in my husbands name for $100 off (worst wife ever, I know, I know), I found the cheapest flight around and bought my ticket. I'm pretty sure I'm flying in a plane that we all power by peddling at top speed in lawn chairs but I don't care. I get to see Kate, I get to meet Katrina and Olivia and Nell and Britt and I get to room with Grace. Poor introverted Grace. I feel sorry for her already. I also am leaving my baby for the first time ever which is a mixed bag of sadness and P A R T Y. I'm sure the blog post fodder will be endless after this week. Get ready.

Go forth to Mama Knows for more and more and more.

  3. love the new look...so fresh and so clean.

and I'm a perennial fan (and perpetrator) of party girl selfies on the biannual occasion that I get out of the house in a proper fashion, with music and draaanks. No shame.
