A recap of so very little...

... as I remain in the steady state of sickness aka bronchitis. I got sick on Sunday, boo hoo hooey. Since then I have been trying to kinda homeschool and not mope, etc. BUT there are a plethora of things you should otherwise be giving your attention to so it's probably a good thing.

1. Jena won the bag!! Yahoo! I also just checked my blog traffic sources and learned that a few people had come through by searching "bag giveaway August." People do that?! How many of you did that?? How many things could I be winning if I just searched "money giveaway" "kitchen renovation giveaway" lifetime supply of housekeepers giveaway"... "August"?

2. Somehow, I got into an argument with Indiana Adams last week on Instagram about whether or not Coach was better than Riggins. (We are talking about Friday Night Lights, fyi, but you knew that, right? If you didn't, click back to that link and purchase season 1 and begin. Just begin.) And no disrespect to Coach because I love me some Taylor's, but Riggins. Riggins wins! (Even Kirby says so and he is basically an expert) Anyway, then she went and made AN ENTIRE POST ABOUT IT. With a poll and everything. And somehow, somehow Riggins is loosing. I know you know this is important. Wouldn't it be funny if you all just went and voted for Riggins and he won, like, by a landslide? Wouldn't that be worth something priceless and eternal? Just a thought.

3. On Sunday, I got my first ever Costco membership. In the effort of full disclosure I have to admit that I didn't want to become a Costco member. I was a judger! I thought that signing up for that membership would mean I was somehow to handing it over to the man... or something. I didn't want to be a slave to the bulk buys... or something! And let me tell you- I WAS WRONG. You were right. It's amazing! Somehow I walked out of there with a steam mop but also, also a 2 lb bag of Chia seeds for, like, $9, so... what else should I get??? Anything to add to Jenny's list? Tell me all the ways.

4. I stored a precious little Kirby saying on my phone that I recently recovered...

"Julia Child?"
"Isn't she the girl from 10 Things I Hate About You ?"

#NO

5. Along the same lines, I was just recapping my doctors visit to Kirby and how I was offered a prescription for codeine cough syrup that I akwardly denied. I have a weird fear/aversion to meds but if you offered me horse-fat serum and told me to put banana peels under my pillow I'd totally do it. Judge away, ya'll. I still like science. Anyway, I told Kirby that I turned down the sizzurp and he said, "You should have told him to give some to your husband so he can make that purple drank."

So g'd out.

(He doesn't really drink sizzurp. Don't worry.)

5. Yesterday Mary filmed herself and a few mating butterflies. She knows what butterflies are but she doesn't know what mating is, so... this.

7. I am at the point of letting a week/s go by between intense, brush out all the tangles, hairbrush sessions with my girls. I am thinking I need to place all blame on our current brush and buy a new, magical one. But which is the best brush?? I've heard rivaling arguments on either side. Weigh in, will you? Help me justify this purchase.

This or this.

8. Exciting news!! I am lucky enough to be participating in a brand new project called Blessed Is She. The whole thing is so beautiful and eloquent that I think the site should just speak for itself... "We are a community of women, in the trenches together, trying to grow in our faith and apply God's word to our daily lives. Join us as we love each other, support each other, and dive into the Word together."

Right??

So, here is what you can do (if that sounds as lovely to you as it does to me), click on the above link and subscribe! You will get the daily readings plus a short devotional in your inbox each day, every day. Maybe tomorrow it will be a meditation by Jenna? Maybe one by Christy or Nell? Maybe one by me? Maybe one by Audrey Assad? Come and be a part of this!! It's going to be so great.

M'kay. That's it. Listen to that beautiful song by Audrey and drift off into happiness. I am going to crawl into bed with Netflix and some drank*.

  2. I have The Wet Brush for my daughter and it's amazing. AMAZING. it's the only brush she has ever been willing to use all by herself. I recommended it to all my friends with daughters.

  3. Ditto the Wet Brush. Awesome!

Our Costco faves: the concession stand (pizza!!), Kirkland brand detergent, sports drinks, and bacon, berries, wine, bread, bagels, agave, and dried fruits.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

  4. I have three little girls with very thick hair. The wet brush is the only thing that has worked for us in this house. I hope that you get to feeling better soon!

  6. RIGGINNNNSSS... my husband and I went to see that Lone Survivor movie back on Valentines Day, and 10 mins into it he turned to me and whispered loudly in the crowded theater: "I'm so glad Riggins graduated Dillon High, joined the Navy Seals, and kicked ass."

also have you read "The One and Only" by Emily Giffin? the whole novel is basically a fantasy of Coach Taylor somehow being real, available, and into you.

  7. I'm so excited about the PPB bag! Definitely didn't realize my old blog was still linked....talk about throwback Thursday...ha!

Love the superfood salad at Costco. I always have intentions of making my own salads, but rarely happens, so it makes me feel healthy to have these on hand. Also, the mega pack of La Crioux (flavored sparkling water) is my new favorite afternoon treat...that's not soda and no calories.

  8. I love the tangle teaser! It's super gentle. It makes you wonder WHY on earth do most brushes have handles.....

  9. Tangle Teazer UNLESS you plan to brush wet hair. It kind of skates over wet hair, which is a problem for me with my daughter's very fine, easily tangled, very straight hair that MUST be sorted out and parted while wet. Our plan with the Tangle Teazer is to brush thoroughly before a bath and then any old thing will do the job when it's wet after. Can't beat the TT for dry tangles!

    1. Ok, this sounds like my girls hair. I'm thinking I might just get both...

  10. I own both, and the tangle teaser sucks for fine hair. Wet brush is where it's at! I started using it right after having surgery on my scalp and I could not be more pleased with how easy it made brushing my hair, especially since I had 4 areas with stitches.

  11. That video is pure hilarity, "I'm actually sad that they're attached"!! I am shocked that you have avoided Costco for this long. We buy all of our veggies and fruit there, Quinoa (so cheap!!), coconut oil, Almond Butter, organic eggs. Really, I could go on for days. I love me some Costco. :)

  12. Costco is my happy place.

I actually own both of those brushes! I use the wet brush and have been content but not thrilled with it. However, the handle is nice. But Kendra convinced me to get the tangle teezer for my daughter and it's a win. Harder to hold, but smooths out hair fantastically. Sometimes I steal it. It's great, although it does work better in dry hair than wet. Still I'd recommend it over the other

  13. I have five girls with lots and lots of hair. The wet brush has saved me. I actually have very little compassion for sensitive headed whiny girls, so it's saved them really. :) My Costco loves: the giant bag of tortilla chips for so so cheap, agave nectar which I use to sweeten my coffee, the big ole' container of half & half (for coffee, again), the Rwandan coffee (I'm sensing a trend here I guess?), their brand of brats for grilling, those bags of pre cut broccoli & cauliflower.

  17. First of all, Riggins always. I totally voted too.
Secondly, get the Wet Brush. I bought it about a month ago and I can now brush Rori's tangled hair without her screaming at me.
